The group's principal activities are the manufacturing, developing and distribution of biological products. the group operates through three segments: hematology controls, biotechnology products and r&d systems europe. hematology controls are used to check the accuracy of blood analysis instruments. biotechnology products inclusive of purified proteins (cytokines) and antibodies are used for the purpose of research and assay kits and r&d systems europe distributes biotechnology division products throughout europe. the customers of the group are hospitals, clinical laboratories, research and clinical diagnostic markets. the foreign operations of the group are located in germany. biotechnology products accounted for 65% of fiscal 2002 revenues; Distribution, 23% and hematology, 12%.
