Companhia de Saneamento Basico do Estado de Sao Paulo (SABESP) operates public water and sewage systems in the State of Sao Paulo in which the City of Sao Paulo, Brazil's largest city, is located. The Company provides water and sewage services to a broad range of residential, commercial, industrial and governmental customers in the City of Sao Paulo and in 365 of the 645 other municipalities in the State of Sao Paulo. It also supplies water on a bulk basis to municipalities in the Sao Paulo Metropolitan Region in which it does not operate water systems. SABESP divides its service territories into three regions: the Sao Paulo Metropolitan Region, the Interior Region and the Coastal Region. The Sao Paulo Metropolitan Region, the Interior Region and the Coastal Region accounted for 76%, 16% and 8% of the Company's sales and services rendered in 2001. |
