Qwest serves global and national business and government customers, as well as residential and small business customers, primarily in the local service area. The Company has been managing its operations on the basis of its products and services in four segments: retail services, wholesale services, network services and directory services, but intends to change its segment reporting beginning in 2002. The new segments will be business services, consumer services, wholesale services, directory services and network services.
