M/I Schottenstein Homes, Inc. is a homebuilder that sells and constructs single-family homes to the first-time, move-up, empty-nester and luxury buyer under the M/I Homes and Showcase Homes trade names. During the year ended December 31, 2001, the Company delivered 4,227 homes. In addition, through the wholly owned subsidiary, M/I Financial, M/I Schottenstein offers fixed- and adjustable-rate mortgage loans to buyers of its homes. The Company's homebuilding operations comprise a substantial part of its business, with more than 98% of consolidated revenues in fiscal 2001. M/I Schottenstein's homes are sold in 11 geographic markets, including Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio; Tampa, Orlando and Palm Beach County, Florida; Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina; Indianapolis, Indiana; the Virginia and Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C., and Phoenix, Arizona. Effective January 2002, the Company made the decision to exit the Phoenix market.
