The group's principal activities are to manufacture, fabricate and distribute rail, construction and tubular products. the group operates in three segments namely rail segment, construction segment and tubular segment. the rail segment provides a full line new and used rail, trackwork and accessories to railroads, mines and industry. the group also designs and produces concrete ties, bonded rail joints, power rail, track fasteners, coverboards and special accessories for mass transit and other rail systems. the construction segment sells and rents steel sheet piling and h-bearing pile for foundation and earth retention requirements. the tubular segment supplies pipe coatings for pipelines and utilities. the group also produces pipe-related products for special markets, including water wells and irrigation. rail products accounted for 51% of 2001 revenues; Construction products, 41% and tubular products, 8%.
