Calgon Carbon Corporation provides services, products and solutions for purifying liquids and gases. The Company has four reportable segments. The Activated Carbon segment manufactures granular activated carbon for use in applications to remove organic compounds from water, air and other liquids and gases. The Service segment consists of reactivation of spent carbon and the leasing, monitoring and maintenance of mobile carbon adsorption equipment. The Engineered Solutions segment provides solutions to customers' air and water purification problems through the design, fabrication and operation of systems that utilize a combination of the Company's enabling technologies: carbon adsorption, ultra violet light and advanced ion exchange separation. The Consumer segment primarily consists of the manufacture of carbon cloth, lump charcoal and briquettes, and new consumer products based on the Company's technologies already proven in large-scale industrial applications.
