General Cable Corporation is engaged in the development, design, manufacture, marketing and distribution of copper, aluminum and fiber-optic wire and cable products for the communications, energy, industrial and specialty markets. As a result of asset sales and divestitures that concluded in October 2001, the Company has repositioned its operations into three main lines or segments: Communications, Energy, and Industrial and Specialty businesses. Communications wire and cable transmit low-voltage signals for voice, data, video and control applications. Energy cables include low-, medium- and high-voltage power distribution and power transmission products.
